The VN 2000 already makes huge low-rpm torque, so the smart money fixes fuelling and ride quality rather than chasing peak power. Here’s what pays off.
The “Big 3” — done together, in order
Owners talk about exhaust, intake and fuelling as one package because each depends on the others. The order matters.
- 1 · FuellingPlug-in fuel controller (Cobra Fi2000 / Power Commander)
Corrects the lean stock map so the engine can safely use any extra airflow. Worth doing even on a stock bike to cure low-speed surging.
- 2 · ExhaustSlip-ons or a full system
Frees flow and saves weight. Pair with the fuel controller so the map keeps up — done alone it mostly just adds noise.
- 3 · IntakeHigh-flow air filter / intake kit
Completes the airflow path. Small alone, but rounds out the package once fuelling and exhaust are sorted.

Treat intake + exhaust + fuel controller as one matched "Big 3" package rather than buying them piecemeal, where they tend to add noise more than measurable performance. With the engine already making enormous low-rpm torque, spend on ride quality (suspension setup, brakes, tyres) before chasing peak power.
