How to use the manual, the “Before Servicing” safety and assembly rules every later chapter relies on, model identification, the master General-Specifications table, and the unit-conversion reference.

The scheduled-maintenance chart, full torque-and-locking-agent table, service specifications, and the core owner-serviceable procedures (oil & filter, spark plugs, air cleaner, coolant, drive belt).

The Denso digital fuel-injection system: two-barrel throttle body, injectors, fuel pump & pressure, the sensor suite, and the FI self-diagnosis service-code (DTC) table.

The liquid-cooling circuit: coolant spec, radiator-cap and thermostat figures, the fastener-torque table, and procedures for coolant pressure-testing & flushing, the water pump, radiator, thermostat and hoses.

Cylinder heads, camshafts and rocker gear, the auto-adjusting hydraulic lash adjusters (no valve-clearance check), decompression mechanism, cylinders, pistons and rings, with full wear limits, torque table and the cylinder-compression test.

The wet multi-plate clutch: lever free-play adjustment, friction/steel-plate and spring wear limits, the fastener-torque table, and clutch removal/installation plus the full inspection set.

The semi-dry-sump oil system: feed and scavenge pumps, oil screens, relief valve and pressure switch, with oil grades and capacities, the oil-pressure spec, and oil-level / oil-pressure / relief-valve procedures.

Lifting the 2 053 cm³ V-twin out of the frame and refitting it: the front-brake-hold safety rule, the strip-down list, and the 12-step mount/downtube tightening sequence (front downtube 88 N·m → rear downtube 108 N·m).

Splitting the factory-matched crankcase, the crankshaft & connecting rods (big-end bolts 59 N·m MO), the twin balancer mechanism and its timed chain, and the 5-speed constant-mesh gearbox with its transfer gears.

Front and rear wheel removal and installation, the BT020 tire fitment and cold pressures, tread and runout limits, wheel balancing and hub-bearing service — with the axle torques and the safety callouts the manual stresses.

The toothed drive belt and its pulleys & coupling: specifications, handling precautions, deflection & wear inspection, belt and pulley removal/installation, and coupling-bearing service.

Twin front discs and a single rear disc: specifications & wear limits, fastener torques, pad replacement, caliper & master-cylinder service, disc wear/warp, and the full brake-fluid change & bleeding procedure.

The 49 mm telescopic forks and the preload/rebound-adjustable rear shock: fork-oil change (SAE 10W-20, ≈515 mL, 203 mm level), spring & oil-level specs, rear-shock adjustment, fork/shock/swingarm removal and bearing service.

Handlebar and the steering stem & bearings: the settle-and-retorque bearing procedure (39 N·m seat → 4.9 N·m final), stem-head nut 108 N·m, handlebar fitment, stem removal and warp check.

Frame, engine-mount and downtube torque sequence (front downtube 88 N·m, rear downtube 108 N·m), footboards and side stand, seats, side covers and the frame-inspection rule.

Battery (FTZ16-BS), charging system, ignition, electric starter, lighting and the full fuse box — with the service specifications, resistance checks and the complete US/Canada wiring diagram.
